Let's talk about something rather...ahem...delicate.
With two young princesses, I've had to deal with the issue that every mom has to at some point - what to call private parts. Now I know some people advocate just laying it out there from the very beginning and teaching children the actual names of those body parts, and truth be told, that probably is the best way to go.
I just can't do it.
Va...Vag...Vagi...ick. I just can't do it. It's an ugly word to me - not in the "it's a bad part of my body way" - just in a "that's a really icky-sounding word to say." Like infarction. Or genuflect. Or hydrogenated. It has nothing to do with the body part itself (no, seriously!) - it just doesn't roll off the tongue in a pleasant-sounding way.
So I either call it "down there" or, for my girls, I've recently adopted the term "ho-ho." Yeah, I know, I'm a big immature chicken. Sue me.
I heard one the other day, though, from my friend Marijean (who found it in this blog post on Mamalogues) that just might be the best euphemism I've ever heard.
Dixie treasure.
How perfect is that, huh?! :-)
So ladies, now's your chance to weigh in. What do you call your...um...Dixie treasure?

Okay, I actually like saying hydrogenated - but you are right on with the other words. Never liked saying the word "moist"
I don't have a name to share except that Joe has taught Ben (3.5) to call his item a "willie wack" Big Fun.
You totally get your 10 points and some serious web cred for this one.
I better watch out for when you double dog dare me back.
I'm thinking there needs to be a wikipedia entry on this topic.
I'm crying this is so funny. I grew up in a family of nurses, so we used all of the anatomically correct terminology.
Except for the boys, funny enough, who called their things "tunies."
Ha!
Hilarious! Haven't gotten to this point yet with my little one, but I know the day is coming. For now, I'm still a fan of the Grey's Anatomy line: "George, stop looking at my Va Jay Jay!"
Ooh, I forgot about the "va jay jay" line from Gray's Anatomy - love that show, BTW! I think that's what Oprah calls it, too - wonder if this is a topic of discussion during her girls' weekends with all her celebrity friends? Can you see her sitting around with Maya Angelou, Jennifer Aniston, Tina Turner, etc., talking about va ja jays?!! :-P
