Happy Birthday To My Redheaded Princess

It wasn't the ideal fifth birthday for Princess Elizabeth - we're all grouchy with sore throats and stuffy noses, and I think she's still tired, as we all are, from a weekend of parties, including the birthday party blowout Sunday (which, by the way, I plan on writing about in more detail later this week - Andy, my friend, watch for photos of your awesome "frog prince" - it was a major hit!).

Anyway, we did manage to play a few games of Go Fish and Old Maid with her new Disney Fairies cards today (thanks, Gram & Granddad!) and go out to dinner, which we never do (we're just cheap that way). I hope she had fun - I hope her fifth birthday is fondly remembered. It's hard to tell - Princess E is my child with an "old soul" - she's a total type A perfectionist and extremely sensitive already, with a fiery spirit to match her gorgeous deep red hair, and I worry about her. I know it's a cliche, but I truly just pray for this child to be happy.

So, my beautiful, smart, funny, exasperatingly driven Princess E - happy birthday, sugar bear. Be happy, be content, be well...and be gentle to yourself. Mommy loves you so very much.

Do yourself a favor and write these stories down where you can read them in the future. They will mean more to you when she's grown than they do now. I wish I had saved the stories about my kids when they were little.
