Consider The Possibility

As someone who's experienced both a medicated and a totally drug-free birth experience, I can't wait to see this movie.

If you're pregnant or thinking about having a baby someday, please do three things for me:

1) If you must read the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting," please read it with a critical eye - in my opinion, it's a stupid book that unnecessarily scares and manipulates women at our most vulnerable time. I know, everyone reads it, and someone will probably give it to you as soon as you announce you're pregnant, but don't just read it and accept it as the truth.

2)Please read "The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth" - you'll be shocked at what you learn.

3)Educate yourself, talk to women who have experienced drug-free births, then decide for yourself if an unmedicated birth is for you. But before you decide, please do this - believe that you can do it. Because you can.

Yes. You. Can. As you know, I'm a big advocate of this as well and will continue to preach this into my old grandmotherly age. I'd do it again too but at this stage, it would take drugs to get me to AGREE to get pregnant. :)

Have you heard about the New Ricki Lake (sp?) documentary on the home birth of her second child?!

That's the movie! The one with Ricki Lake - she was on the "Today" show this morning talking about it - can't wait to see it.
