If you haven't already, you've got to read the book Atonement by Ian McEwan. Press through the first few chapters, which in my opinion are a little (needlessly) dense, and keep reading. The last page will make you gasp out loud.
Also, I stayed up last night (because I just couldn't resist) to see all of Masterpiece Theatre's newest version of Jane Eyre. I'm sure it's gotten the movie treatment a dozen times over the years, but this one really caught my attention. If they run it again, check it out!

Oh man, I'm bummed that I missed Jany Eyre! It was my favorite book in high school (perhaps because I received my first A at boarding school from a paper written about the book).
Atonement -- what a story. I alomost walked out of the movie theatre during the first "chapter", but was glad I stayed.
